WHAT ARE INVISALIGN® ORTHODONTICS?
Straight teeth and a revitalized smile no longer need to come with a mouthful of unattractive wire-and-bracket braces. Enhance your smile and without affecting your self-esteem with Aurora Family Dentistry.
Benefits of Invisalign® Treatment
Invisalign® orthodontics is a nearly invisible alternative to metal braces for teens and adults. At Aurora Family Dental, we custom-make plastic trays to straighten your teeth gradually and comfortably. Our doctors will take a 3D scan of your teeth to create a series of molds that you will wear for 2 weeks, and over a period of 9-18 months, your smile will be transformed into the smile that you desire.
Invisalign with Aurora Family Dentistry has many advantages over traditional braces including:
• Aligners can be removed for special occasions such as holidays or weddings
• You can eat all your favorite foods since you remove your trays while you eat
• There are no sharp wires to irritate your tongue and cheeks
• Quicker timeline than traditional wire braces
• Aligners are nearly invisible
THE INVISALIGN® 5-STEP PROCESS
Knowing what to expect when you choose to get Invisalign® treatment with Aurora Family Dentistry will help you decide if it’s right for you and your lifestyle.
1. Initial Invisalign® Appointment
At your first appointment, Drs. Jaimie or Scott Lyke or Dr. Ryan Ersland will discuss with you your cosmetic dentistry goals and review your oral history and digital x-rays. Some people may not be suitable for this type of teeth alignment process so we may review other options with you and make recommendations based on your needs. If you’re an ideal candidate for Invisalign® treatment, then we’ll discuss the treatment and estimated length of treatment.
2. Molding Process
The next step is the digital molding process. This may happen during your first appointment with the dentist or later depending on your schedule. Digital scans of your mouth, photographs, and digital x-rays will be taken to create an accurate model of your mouth and teeth. These are sent to the Invisalign® laboratory for your custom aligner trays to be made from.
3. Fitting the First Trays
When your Invisalign® trays arrive from the lab, and it’s time for you to return for pick-up, we’ll call you to schedule an appointment. Our doctors may fit small attachments on your teeth in order to keep the trays in place. These buttons are clear, almost invisible, and pointless to install. We’ll confirm fitment and your aftercare program explained, you’re free to go.
4. Follow Up Appointments
A few weeks after your first tray is fitted, it’s time to return to Aurora Family Dentistry to check tooth movement and confirm tray fit. A series of trays make up the process. You’ll swap out these trays approx. every two weeks and you’ll return to Aurora Family Dentistry periodically to confirm tooth movement progress.
5. Straighter Teeth!
After the treatment, your teeth will have straightened out along a pre-determined path. Depending on the severity of your misalignment, to begin with, the time may take longer or shorter. If worn as prescribed, you’re guaranteed to have a straighter smile over time.
